WEEK ONE
My first week for practicum was pretty laid back but interesting. I went to youth group for the first time, which was about two hours, and loved it! I walked in and saw a couple other kids from class were talking with Matt Trexler, the youth pastor at Lakeview Wesleyan. I walked up and just kind of joined the conversation. Matt told us his "theme" he has in mind for the next few months and what we would be doing with that. He said that we would be meeting with a few kids in the youth group each night and asking different "review" questions. This got me really excited because we used to do this in my youth group back at home, which was a great way to make the message applicable.
Other than my quick talk with Matt, I sort of just observed what the youth group was all about. I watched some of the leaders interact with the teens and saw a lot of care when it came to certain kids in the group. I also really liked the flow of the meeting in terms of worship and a serious, talk time. I was not formally introduced to theg group, which was fine with me, because I am glad that I got to just watch and see the way things worked. Overall, this first meeting made me really excited for the next few months! The Lord really reminded me of my passoin for youth :)
